Soundwave Society is a tight-knit group of friends who all share a deep passion for music. It’s our home base where we come together to celebrate our appreciation for all things music; album reviews, live music, music recommendations, and more.
HOW IT WORKS
ALBUM REVIEWS
Every week, one member of our club shares an album for everyone to listen to. We then gather our thoughts throughout the week, and share our feelings about the project at the conclusion of the 7-day stretch. We then rotate to our next member to put forth an album, and continue this cycle until each of us have had a turn to share an album with the group. The end of each cycle is what we consider a “season,” and at the end of each season we vote on an assorted variety of awards to give to the albums that the club deems worthy.
While album discussions are our main focus of the group, we have added additional aspects to the club’s operations. See below to learn more!
THEME WEEKS & EP WEEKS
For 2-week intervals, we offset Theme Weeks and EP Weeks. What this entails is, at the start of a 2-week span, we will have a random theme generated. This theme could be anything, from “choose a song with a colour in the title” to “choose your favourite song released in 2023.” We then have two weeks to select a song that fits the theme, and share with the group.
At the conclusion of Theme Weeks, we will move onto EP Weeks, which runs in a similar fashion to album reviews. A member of the club will put forth an EP of their choosing, and at the end of the two week span, members of the club will submit a short write up of their thoughts on the EP.
EVERYTHING ELSE
In addition to album discussions, Theme Weeks, and EP Weeks, the group enjoys sharing new music releases, attending concerts together, and general music dialogue!
Our club started as an idea in November of 2023, and quickly came to fruition and into operation by the end of the month. We are always looking for ways to improve the operations of the club to keep things exciting and fresh.
